Following these simple suggestions makes for a cost effective, smooth and medically sound transition from legacy systems to VETport. No need to break the bank or beat your head on the wall!
Import the client and patient information files - assuming you can get them in excel, csv or html format. If possible the reminder file and the Client Balances
These are the formats we prefer for client, patient and reminder. They can be comma or pipe separated as in the examples. If you have separate formats for client and patient that is fine as well.

Client Balances:
The Other data that can be extracted and imported into VETport are your Plan Items / Vendor Items, Medical Records. However Enclosed is an easy method to link your old patient records into VETport.
Leave your old system up as archival. Keep in mind VETport is browser based and can run side by side with your old system on any computer.
Most systems allow for some sort of printing of the medical record. As patients make appointments, those which you deem necessary to have access to the medical record in VETport, print from the old system to pdf. Printing to pdf is built into the Mac and is available as numerous add-ons for Windows and Linux some of which are free e.g.: "PDFCreator easily creates PDFs from any Windows program. Use it like a printer in Word, StarCalc or any other Windows application".
Once a Patient is loaded into the dashboard, one can click on files and the file attachment menu is loaded whereby you can a file for the relevant area
Attach the pdf document to the patient record in VETport - reference it as needed.
1)Click on the pdf icon to open the prior record.
2)Edit allows for the associate note to be edited.
